the old dwarves look okay in the new environment at least. I'll probably use the included official graphics but install whatever addon Vordak releases to go with it.But as far as getting an accurate picture of what they're wearing, that's probably not very important information, but it'd be kind of cool for flavour to see a dwarf missing a sock If we could show what the dwarves were holding accurately, we could see the miner with a mining pick and the engraver with the chisel. The dwarf at the mason workshop is the mason and the dwarf in the kitchen is the cook. Since dwarves aren't controlled directly, I don't think it's too important to see which one is which. I don't think it matters too much to see what profession a dwarf has, except maybe in the military dwarves to distinguish ranged dwarves from melee dwarves.I used to mostly use Spacefox, but lately I've been using Meph's tiles with Vordak's dwarves addon.I normally play with more graphical packs.Do we know if the new-style tile sets will be separable like that? /u/meph248 ? I kind of figure there'll be at least a couple community look-alike terrain set early on, probably from Meph, probably from vettlingr, and that that would be what people (okay, you,) initially targeted. I wonder how that'd work, if I'm understanding the question. I'm glad they're sticking around as an option, though! I do hope someone updates Phoebus to "worn clothing."Īs above, I'm hopeful my favorites get updated. that I fail to see how profession sprites would help. I pretty much never find myself wanting to hunt them down by sight, and if I did want to, there are generally enough "farmers", "metalworkers," etc. I pretty well manage dwarves via their names, on lists. I'm team "show them like they are," for sure. I alternate between Phoebus and vettlingr. I can play just fine in Curses, if I have to, but I switch when I can. If it's possible to do, would you be interested in a graphics pack that only modifies the dwarves and doesn't touch the rest of the graphics? Or maybe those old dwarf graphics won't look so hot next to the new terrain?Īny more thoughts or opinions on the future of graphics packs or other stuff? Here's what I'm thinking– The new graphics are going to be awesome and have lots of cool features, but maybe there's a few people are really attached to their current dwarf graphics. If you plan on getting the Premium version of Dwarf Fortress, do you plan on using the included graphics set, or do you plan to keep using your current favourite? Is it really that important to be able to determine a dwarf's profession from his or her icon? Do you want to see a leatherworker holding a piece of leather or a cook wearing a chef's hat? Or would you rather see a more accurate view of what each dwarf is wearing and holding?ĭo you plan to get the Premium version of Dwarf Fortress?
